Software firm Pytilia triples Belfast HQ space as headcount grows

‘We are tripling our available space and providing an invaluable base for our team to be together and to support new joiners to the business,’ co-founder said.

Software company Pytilia has tripled the size of its Belfast headquarters as strong export revenue leads to headcount growth at the five-year-old company.

Pytilia, which specialises in software solutions for the financial services, cybersecurity and health and life sciences sectors, has said that it generates 90pc of its revenue stream from global customers. Some of its clients include Hewlett Packard, BT and a range of international financial services companies.

It offers a range of services directed at different teams, including a compliance platform and a platform that sends out “context-aware” alerts.

Pytilia’s new 4,500sq ft office space at Weavers Business Park in Belfast city will be the base for its more than 50 team members.

“Pytilia exemplifies an indigenous software company driving innovation through R&D and collaboration with local universities, whilst creating high quality jobs and career opportunities,” said Northern Ireland’s economy minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald.

The company has partnerships with Ulster University, Queen’s University Belfast, University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and the University of Glasgow.

Angela Montgomery, the co-founder of the company said, “Pytilia has grown steadily since our launch five years ago as our global customer-base has expanded, and we are continuing to recruit for a range of roles.

“To accommodate our growth, we are tripling our available space and providing an invaluable base for our team to be together and to support new joiners to the business, which is especially important with Pytilia’s strong focus on early careers.”

Co-founder Tim Silversides added, “Pytilia invests heavily in talent including with year-out placements and graduate programmes alongside our ‘earn as you learn’ degree apprenticeships.

“Around 20pc of our team fall into the early-career category, with apprentices making up over 10pc of our workforce. A world-class office environment is critical for their ongoing development.”

Pytilia was recently selected to participate in the UK Financial Conduct Authority Market Abuse Surveillance TechSprint which explored how advanced solutions leveraging AI and machine learning could help detect evolving forms of market abuse.

Last week, Irish cybersecurity provider Ekco opened a new Dublin headquarters to act as a central hub for its roughly 500 employees based in the country.
