We can save up to 15% on the price of our train ticket in the event of broken Wi-Fi, poor air conditioning or a non-working socket. Explanations.
There exists a Comfort Guarantee at SNCF that very few travelers know, and yet it can make a difference, especially if you often travel by TGV. We are still talking here about automatic compensation in the event of a malfunction of certain on-board services.
So if you’re the type who is desperately looking for a working outlet to charge your phone or the air conditioning is broken in the middle of summer, listen carefully to the following… You can get 15% of the price of your ticket back, without even being late, that’s another guarantee.
Wi-Fi, air conditioning, socket broken?
Exactly, without necessarily looking for the little beast, but in relation to the uses that you really have. What is interesting is that this guarantee does not concern delays or cancellations but rather the comfort services announced when booking, such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning or the famous electrical outlet.
What to do ? It’s quite simple: report the problem to the captain during the journey. He will record your report in his report, and you will then automatically receive a voucher equivalent to 15% of the price paid. For example, if your ticket costs €80, you can get €12 back to use later. This voucher is valid for one year on all TGV journeys.
Report the malfunction during the trip
Absolutely. All you have to do is make the report at the right time, i.e. during the trip, and that’s it. A good way to make a little inconvenience profitable… or at least not to sit idly by, which is always very frustrating!
Little tip by the way: remember to keep your ticket or reservation confirmation, it can always be useful if you have to contact customer service if you forget it.
There you go, you now know how to get some money back thanks to the SNCF Comfort Guarantee. And as always, if you have any other great budget tips to share, write to me at paricileseconomies@radiofrance.com I will share them with pleasure!
