World Health Forum, Haiti opts for reinforced health coverage

Haiti formalized, on November 18 in Taiwan, its adherence to the ministerial declaration of the World Health and Well-being Forum 2025. The Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Bertrand Sinal, signed this document which sets out the commitments of several countries aimed at consolidating the sustainability of health systems and accelerating Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

Taipei, November 20, 2025.- This declaration, developed in a context of growing health challenges, places international cooperation, innovation and climate resilience at the center of priorities.

For Haiti, it constitutes a road map to modernize a health system tested by successive crises and improve equitable access to essential services.

The commitments adopted include, among other things, international solidarity which occupies a strategic place.

Haiti intends to strengthen its partnerships, share its experience and benefit from global good practices in order to better support the most vulnerable areas of the country.

This dynamic aims to promote the exchange of resources and skills, essential to meeting emerging health challenges.

Internally, the government is banking on sustainable financing to consolidate national systems and guarantee accessible and transparent health services.

The integration of digital tools is also a priority, with the aim of improving diagnosis, patient monitoring and care coordination, while ensuring that these innovations remain accessible to the entire population, including the most exposed communities.

Resilience to climate change is also among the major axes. Haiti plans to integrate reinforced infrastructure, early warning systems and better preparation for natural disasters into health planning.

The country is also committed to strengthening monitoring and accountability mechanisms in order to measure progress made towards UHC and to guarantee increased transparency in the actions carried out.

According to Dr. Bertrand Sinal, the presence of Haiti at this forum reflects a desire of the MSPP to place the reform of the health system among the national priorities and offer a more structured response to the pressing needs of the population in a context where the improvement of health services remains a vital issue.
