Born in Châteaudun, Thomas Richard took on a major challenge: rebuilding his hometown block by block in Minecraft, the famous sandbox game. This young creator, a fan of the game since he was 4 years old, wants to promote Dunois heritage to a large online community. Its ambition goes beyond the city’s borders, since it plans to gradually map the entire Centre-Val de Loire region by 2028.
A creative project
Through a combination of real-life tours, Google Maps observations and personal memories, Thomas has already brought the medieval Chateaudun Castle to life in just eight hours of construction. He also reconstructed from memory his former Tomas Divi college, threatened with closure, faithfully reproducing the interior details. The precision of his creations reveals his deep attachment to his city and its history.
Sharing his creations on YouTube and Discord, Thomas attracts a community of nearly 300 subscribers scattered across Europe, the United States and particularly in Toulouse. He plans to expand his visibility via Facebook and the section ” Community “ from YouTube. This pixelated version of Châteaudun, designed as a first immersion, encourages players to take the step from virtual to reality: Grand Châteaudun Tourisme thus encourages the curious to discover the real city after having explored it in creative mode.
