The peaceful island of Saint-Barthélemy, jewel of the Caribbean governed by France, is transformed during the St Barths Bucket Regatta into the scene of the most spectacular sailing show for sailing superyachts. The program of the event has been fixed since the first edition 30 years ago: dream yachts in a dream setting, combined with a nice mix of beach parties and social activities.
The St. Barths Bucket, highlight of the “Sea Cloud II” trip
Every year, the crème de la crème of sailing giants, including the owner’s entourage, travel to Gustavia, the port of the capital of the Lesser Antilles. Between 30 and 50 ultra-modern superyachts, with sail areas of up to 4,000 square meters, cross the Atlantic to start the prestigious regatta and hold in their hands the coveted victory trophy, a bucket of silver.
For the 2026 edition of the St. Barths Bucket Regatta, the Hamburg shipping company Sea Cloud Cruises is reserving special boxes. When the 117 meter long barque “Sea Cloud II” anchors for two days off the coast of Gustavia, up to 94 guests will be close to the regatta.
The journey of YACHT readers is accompanied by Editor-in-chief Martin HagerHe will give lectures on the world of superyachts and the history of the Bucket Regatta. Live race commentary will also be available as guests follow the sporting battles of the sailing giants from the sun deck. The Windjammer’s stopover in St. Barthélemy is part of an extensive Caribbean tour with the neighboring island of Sint Maarten as the port of departure and arrival.
The other stops on the cruise from March 6 to 16, 2025 are the Saintes Islands, Saint Lucia, Martinique and the British Virgin Islands. Highlights of the trip include the twin green volcanoes of the island of St. Lucia, the towering granite boulders of picture-postcard The Baths Beach on Virgin Gorda, and the white-sand beach of Norman Island, where a beach barbecue awaits guests of “Sea Cloud II.” Two days of navigation will allow them to take advantage of the constant trade winds. It’s the perfect time to relax in the Deck Chair.
