Cairn Launches January 29, 2026 on PS5 and Steam With New Trailer and Deluxe Edition

Indie studio The Game Bakers (known for Furi and Haven) has announced that their anticipated survival climbing adventure, Cairn, officially launches on January 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Steam. The reveal arrived during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted showcase, alongside a striking new trailer that highlights the game’s physical intensity and emotional scope.

Cairn will be priced at $29.99 with a 10% launch discount, while a Deluxe Edition including a Kami travel guide by acclaimed comic artist Mathieu Bablet, plus three in-game keepsakes, will be available for $36.99 (discounted to $34.20 for a limited time).

A Climber’s Journey and a Personal Reckoning

Creative Director Emeric Thoa describes Cairn as “more than a climbing simulation.” The game follows Aava, a lifelong alpinist attempting to ascend Kami, a colossal, sacred mountain that demands everything from those who dare approach it.

Cairn blends systemic survival mechanics with a grounded narrative about ambition, obsession, and the question of why people push themselves beyond their limits. Players will scale sheer cliff faces, navigate dangerous overhangs, and manage their stamina, tools, and route planning throughout a 15-hour expedition.

As Aava climbs higher, she encounters other mountaineers and uncovers remnants of earlier expeditions, along with traces of an ancient troglodyte civilization that once braved Kami’s harsh environment. Nearly one hour of cinematic cutscenes performed by a cast of ten actors sheds light on Aava’s motivations, her relationships, and the sacrifices that led her to this moment.

The Game Bakers’ signature attention to animation, tactile mechanics, and emotional storytelling appears to be carrying over into their most grounded project yet.
