“We can confirm significant error rates for requests addressed” to its DynamoDB database, used by many web applications and online games, we can read on the AWS site, which confirmed having detected the first slowdowns around 9:11 a.m. (7:11 a.m. GMT).

“Significant signs of recovery”

At 11:27 a.m. (9:27 a.m.), AWS reported seeing “significant signs of recovery” after “applying initial mitigation measures.”

A subsidiary of Amazon, AWS is a remote (cloud) computing platform that provides businesses with on-demand services such as storage, databases and artificial intelligence (AI). According to the site Downdetectorwhich lists communications failures of online platforms, several dozen sites, applications, social networks and online games encountered difficulties Monday morning.

The AI ​​software “Perplexity is currently unavailable,” Aravind Srinivas, CEO of the start-up, told X. “The problem is caused by an AWS malfunction. We are working to resolve it,” he continued.

The accommodation reservation site Airbnb, the social network Instagram, the game sales platform Steam and the online video games Roblox and Brawl Stars are affected.

Several telephone operators are also affected, such as Orange, Bouygues Telecom and SFR.
